Papillion shopping center, state Department of Labor hosting job fairs
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, the Associated Press reported last week, and that means the state is a job-seeker’s market. As of Sunday, 40,654 job openings exist in Nebraska.
To help meet the need for employees, a shopping center in Papillion and the Nebraska Department of Labor have job fairs planned Tuesday and Wednesday in the Omaha area.
According to a news release Monday, the Shadow Lake Town Center in Papillion is hosting a job fair from Wednesday, saying “business is booming” in Sarpy County and “plenty of quality jobs” are available. The event is from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the former Pier 1 location at 7809 Towne Center Parkway, Suite 115.
“Our job fair is a great opportunity for job seekers in the community to connect directly with our tenants that are seeking new employees,” Brian Lemon, marketing director for Shadow Lake. Employers have full- and part-time positions to fill, Lemon said.
The state is holding an event Tuesday for job seekers interested in careers in the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. and a separate hiring fair on Wednesday to connect veterans with prospective employers, according to the
The corrections fair is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. at the Omaha Correctional Center at 2323 Ave. J.
The Boots-to-Fill event for veterans is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. at Heartland Workforce Solutions at 5752 Ames Ave.
